eVisitNB contract extended 90 days

Healthcare services from eVisitNB were expected to come to an end on March 31, but New Brunswickers were informed this week they’ll continue until June 30.

eVisitNB notified users of the extension on March 23 via their FAQ page.

“We have received an extension to continue serving you until June 30, 2026. eVisitNB will be available every day from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. to support New Brunswickers with a valid Medicare card issued by the Government of New Brunswick,” the platform said in an update.

eVisitNB added that users will still be able to access their medical records after June 30 by logging into their Maple account.

The platform also stated the Government of New Brunswick would share details on how to access virtual care once services have switched to the new provider.

New Brunswickers received their first notification on February 6 that the provincial government was switching to a new provider, beginning on April 1.

New Brunswick’s Health Minister John Dornan responded to concerns about the impending changes in a statement on Feb. 10, reassuring that a new service would be implemented without interruption.

“There have been questions about the future of virtual care and its status after March 31. I can confirm that eVisitNB’s contract has been extended 90 days, and they will provide virtual care as we transition to a new vendor in June, with the goal of a full transition following the extension period,” said Dornan.

The new provider is expected to be based in Europe, with their headquarters located in the United States.

“The selected vendor has strong Canadian roots, all patient records will be securely stored in Canada, and the company brings more than 28 years of experience serving New Brunswickers in both official languages, with 150 employees here in the province,” said Dornan.

In a release from the Department of Health on March 24, Dornan addressed the 90-day contract extension.

Dornan says New Brunswickers will receive more information about the transition and how they can access care from the new provider before the transition date.
