Two arrests following Miramichi drug bust
A man and a woman have been arrested following drug trafficking investigations.
Probes into the trafficking of cocaine and methamphetamine have been underway for the past few months by the Miramichi Integrated Enforcement Unit.
As a result, Miramichi Police arrested the two individuals on March 26.
Officers searched a home in Saint Norbert, where they found several illegal drugs, including 2.5 kilograms of suspected cocaine, 400 grams of crystal meth, at least 23,000 tablets of methamphetamine, and one kilogram of illegal cannabis.
Over $80,000 in Canadian currency and a loaded 20-gauge shotgun were also seized.
A Saint Norbert man and a woman from Cocagne appeared in provincial court on March 27 and were charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.
The woman was released on conditions and a future court date, but the man remains in custody for a March 31 bail hearing.
Anyone with information who suspects illegal activity in their community is asked to contact local police or anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
