Muskies lose 5-1 in OFSAA quarterfinal game
The Fort Frances Muskies boys hockey team’s run at the all-Ontario AA high school hockey championship in Belleville is over.
The Muskies fell 5-1 to the host St. Theresa Titans in a quarterfinal game on Wednesday afternoon.
The Muskies opened the scoring in the first period.
With just over five minutes remaining in the period, Ashton Armstrong picked up a loose puck at centre ice and snapped a quick shot just inside the Titan’s blueline that eluded the netminder.
The Titans tied the game just 18 seconds into the second period.
They took the lead for good 4 minutes later on a shot that Keaton Cooper made an initial save, but the Titans were able to gather up the rebound and slip it into the net.
The Titans added another to take a 3-1 lead into the third.
St. Theresa went up 4-1 early in the third, then added their fifth and final goal with just over 3 minutes to play, putting the game out of reach for the Muskies.
