Fire restrictions updated for Nova Scotia

Two Nova Scotia counties are under a complete burn ban as of Saturday afternoon.

The latest update was issued at 2 p.m. and placed Yarmouth and Shelburne counties in red, meaning no burning whatsoever.

The rest of the province is in yellow, restricting burning to the period between 7 p.m. and 8 a.m.

The province’s wildfire dashboard showed six active fires as of 5 p.m. Saturday – two in Annapolis County, and one each in Halifax, Lunenburg, Queens and Yarmouth counties.

All six are considered under control.

Conditions are updated daily at 2 p.m. during wildfire risk season, which runs March 15 to Oct. 15.
