Provincial Police report a drop in crime in the western portion of the Rainy River District.
This includes communities between the Fort Frances area to Rainy River.
Violent crime, which includes assaults, sexual assaults and firearms offences, dropped 20% last year over 2024.
Property crime, which includes theft, mischief and break-ins, fell 17%.
O-P-P also investigated 21 drug-related incidents, two fewer than in 2024.
Police also issued more than 21-hundred charges over the past year.
That represents a 4% decrease from the previous year.
Forty-seven percent of the charges, or 990, were criminal code charges.
Another 33% were related to traffic offences.
On the roadways, 96 motorists were charged with speeding, representing a 21.5% increase from 2024.
Distracting driving charges were up 109% with 23 motorists nabbed, compared with eleven in 2024.
The number of impaired driving charges dropped 15% from 92 to 78.
There were also 144 collisions, a 14.8% decrease.
Only one resulted in the death of a person, with six others resulting in injuries.
Police also responded to 33 overdose incidents, which were 11 fewer than in 2025.
Nine people died, which is the most since 2023.
