Changes to New Brunswick’s vehicle registration renewal take effect April 1.

Motorists will no longer receive a sticker for their license plate when they register or renew their vehicle.

The change applies to all vehicles, including passenger, commercial and off-road vehicles, and is part of ongoing efforts to modernize services and improve efficiency.

The legislation was introduced in November, and according to Service New Brunswick, it goes into effect today.

You will still be required to pay for the renewal, but you can print your certificate on your own.

“Removing licence plate registration stickers is a practical step that reflects how technology has evolved and how we deliver services today,” said Local Government Minister Aaron Kennedy, who is also minister responsible for Service New Brunswick. “This change will make the process more convenient for New Brunswickers while simplifying the administrative process and reducing costs.”

Customers who have valid stickers on their licence plates do not need to remove them, but no new stickers will be issued after April 1.
