N.B. school support workers vote in favour of new contract

Members of the union representing school support staff have voted in favour of a new collective agreement with the province.

CUPE 2745 represents more than 6,400 employees, including school and district administrative assistants, education assistants, school intervention workers and school library workers.

“We are pleased that members of CUPE 2745 have ratified their tentative agreement, which has been pending a vote for almost a year,” said Finance Minister René Legacy in a release.

“We appreciate the challenges faced by both the union and the employer, but are pleased that the vote was brought to the membership and ratified. I also want to recognize the vital role these workers play in our education system each day.”

Further details of the agreement will be shared once it’s signed.
