No injuries were reported following an incident at Sturgeon Creek School on Friday.

Members of the Chapple, Emo and La Vallee Fire Emergency Services were called to the school at around noon following reports of smoke in the gymnasium.

All students and staff evacuated safely.

Fire officials and school maintenance staff determined that electrical components on a furnace located in a room near the gym failed, causing it to shut down.

After about an hour, staff and students were allowed back inside and resumed their school day.
