Minnesota’s Name a Snowplow contest needs your vote
The Minnesota Department of Transportation is out with the list of finalists in its annual Name a Snowplow contest.
More than 6,750 name suggestions were received.
MnDOT has narrowed the list down to 30.
It is looking for eight names to be used on plows, one for each of its eight districts.
“MnDOT’s 800 snowplows keep Minnesota’s roads clear, drivers safe and traffic moving, despite the snow and cold,” states MnDOT Commissioner Nancy Daubenberger in a release.
“Name a Snowplow is a fun way to highlight the work of these plows and their operators, and to celebrate one of the ways Minnesotans get through winter together. We hope Minnesotans take time to notice all of our plows — named or not — so all of our operators can safely do their work.”
Some of the suggestions reference popular artists, such as “Jon Bon Snowi,” “Flurious George” and “Sled Zeppelin.”
Others are song references, such as “Here We Snow Again,” I Got Friends in Snow Places,” and “Don’t Flurry, Be Happy.”
There are also takes on popular phrases, such as “Say it ain’t Snow” and “Six-Sleddin’, Six-Sleddin’.”
The public has its say in the final eight.
Voting is underway and will continue until February 13. Click here.
This is the contest’s sixth year.
Forty names have been previously selected that include “We’re Off to See the Blizzard (2025),” “Taylor Drift (2024),” and “Duck, Duck Orange Truck (2021).”
