6 Fort Frances properties available through tax sale
The town of Fort Frances is putting several properties up for tax sale.
They include five residential properties and a former business.
Town officials say they have been in tax arrears for at least four years.
The sales include minimum bids to recoup the outstanding taxes.
Under Ontario legislation, municipalities must wait two years before starting a tax sale process, which usually takes another two years to complete.
Anyone can submit a bid, however non-Canadians may be restricted under federal law.
The purchaser can also be held responsible for any outstanding liens and environmental issues that may be attached to the property.
The town is accepting bids on the properties until April 22nd.
