UPDATE: More wintry weather for Friday and Sunday in N.B.
If you broke your ice scraper with the freezing rain earlier this week, you’re going to want to pick up another one today.
Special weather statements from Environment Canada remain in effect for the southern, southeastern and central regions of New Brunswick.
More snow, ice pellets, freezing rain and rain are forecast to start Friday morning.
“Northern areas are expecting mostly snow. Snowfall could be anywhere from 15 to 30 centimetres. Through central areas, prolonged periods of freezing rain, two to five millimetres of freezing rain, definitely lasting several hours. Further south, we’re anticipating mostly rain. Just an hour or two of freezing rain, but it will change over very quickly to rain,” Meteorologist Jill Maepea told our newsroom.
That’s bound to turn Good Friday into a Bad Friday for those who don’t like wintry weather.
Environment Canada has issued a yellow alert snowfall warning for northern New Brunswick.
But there’s no rest for meteorologists on the long Easter weekend. “We are anticipating another system for Sunday. This one might be further north, though. Most of the province will see mostly rain, but once again, they’ll get snow up north,” Maepea explained.
