Western Financial grows in Saint John, donates $15K to IWK
Western Financial Group used its Saint John launch to highlight its focus on community support, starting with a $15,000 donation to the IWK Health Centre.
The donation was announced during the opening of Western’s newly transitioned Eastern Canada offices on December 2.
The event marked the full integration of Huestis Insurance into Western’s national network and brought together local officials, including Saint John Mayor Donna Reardon, along with business leaders and staff.
“We’re honoured to celebrate this moment with our team and community partners,” Western Financial Group CEO Grant Ostir said. He said the company wants to make insurance easier and more accessible for Canadians.
Huestis Insurance Group founder David Huestis said the transition reflects a shared commitment to strong local service and community relationships.
Western said the $15,000 contribution supports care for women, children and families across the Maritimes.
The company added that its charitable arm, the Western Communities Foundation, has donated more than $9 million to Canadian communities since 2001.
“Giving back is not just part of our culture, it’s who we are,” Ostir said.
Western said customers in the Maritimes will continue working with the same local teams while gaining access to a broader range of insurance products through its coast‑to‑coast network.
