Thunder Bay’s Official Recognition Awards nominations now open
The city’s good Samaritans will soon have their chance to be recognized through the city’s Official Recognition Awards.
The awards, which have been given out annually for 48 years, are meant to recognize locals who participate extensively in volunteerism to contribute to their city.
Volunteers who give their time in clubs, health and advocacy groups, arts and culture organizations, sports groups and more are eligible to be nominated.
Each year, the city gives out three awards:
The Good Citizen Award is given to someone who has volunteered for at least 5 years in the city.
The Spirit of Thunder Bay Award is for a deeply involved individual with over 15 years of experience volunteering in the city.
The Youth Award is for someone who is 21 or younger, with at least two years of experience in youth-centric volunteering, and beyond the mandatory 40 hours.
Nominations for the awards must be given to the Office of the City Clerk by January 30 to be considered.
The awards will be presented at a City Council Committee of the Whole meeting on April 22.
More information about the awards, as well as the nomination forms, can be found on the city website.
