University wrestling nationals come to Lakehead
Lakehead is hosting the university wrestling national championships tomorrow at the C.J. Sanders Fieldhouse.
There are 13 Thunder Bay-born wrestlers on Lakehead’s roster, two of which are reigning champions in their weight class.
Second-year Haley Florell won gold in the women’s 76kg category. Third-year Adam LaFroy won in the men’s 72kg category.
As a team, the Lakehead women finished 8th out of 17 while the men finished 7th out of 17 after the 2025 national championships at Brock University.
The two-day event will close Saturday, with an Indigenous Celebration Night before the gold medal matches.
