Westfort’s councillor will not be seeking re-election
Councillor Kristen Oliver of Westfort Ward has announced she will not be seeking a third term in Thunder Bay’s upcoming municipal election.
Oliver has served as a city councillor for eight years, contributing on the Thunder Bay Police Services Board and with the Northwestern Ontario Municipal Association.
The news follows the announcement last week that Councillor At Large Shelby Ch’ng had also chosen not to seek re-election.
Oliver says she is looking forward to focusing more on her career, children, and family.
Municipal elections in Ontario, including in Thunder Bay, are slated for October 26, 2026.
The City of Thunder Bay will be hosting an information session on April 16 for those considering running in the election, taking place at City Hall from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers.
