Thunder Bay extending deadline to drop off old garbage bins
Thunder Bay is extending the deadline to drop off your old garbage can.
The city is offering the service to households that have received and are currently using the new wheeled garbage bins.
The new collection system is automated, using a mechanical arm on the city’s garbage trucks to lift and empty the bins.
The city intended to stop the old bin collection on Sunday, but has opted to continue to collect them until October 18.
Those in need of garbage cans are also welcome to pick up one or more cans for free from the drop-off area.
The landfill is located at 5805 Mapleward Road.
It is open from 8:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Monday to Friday, and from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday.
