Dryden city council delays budget deliberations
The City of Dryden has put on hold its 2026 budget deliberations.
Chief Administrative Officer Roger Nesbitt says they are still waiting for the province to announce what it’s going to cost for municipal policing.
“Once we get our estimate, we can verify how close or how far out we are on our forecast for police costing next year,”
“If we are substantially inaccurate on our forecasting, that’s going to cause some significant rework on the budget.”
Nesbitt adds that until they get their policing numbers from the province, they can’t really finalize the city numbers.
“We’ve refrained from doing that simply because we don’t have that answer on the police costing estimate for 2026. I have been in contact with representatives of the OPP, and they expect to have the estimates to municipalities by the end of November.”
Nesbitt says according to the budget calendar they released earlier this year; a draft budget was supposed to released last week.
