The Dryden GM Ice Dogs continue to hold down first place in the Superior International Junior Hockey League.
The Ice Dogs travelled to Ironwood, Michigan and came away with pair of victories, winning 7-2 Friday night and 5-2 on Saturday.
Dryden now has 33 points, three points up on the second place Fort Frances Lakers, who also won both of their games in a shootout over the weekend.
On Friday they downed the Kam River Fighting Walleye 2-1 and then claimed a 3-2 victory on Saturday over Kam River.
The Sioux Lookout Bombers and the Thunder Bay North Stars split their games, with the Bombers coming away with a 4-3 victory on Saturday after being shut out 1-0 by the North Stars on Friday.
The Lakehead University Thunderwolves men’s hockey team had its 5-game winning streak come to an end with a 4-1 loss to the Toronto Metropolitan Bold Friday night.
But the ‘Wolves bounced back on Saturday with a 4-2 win over the Laurier Golden Hawks.
Lakehead and Laurier are tied for first in their division with 19 points, but the Thunderwolves have a claim to first place, because they played one fewer game.
Coming up next, the Thunderwolves travel again to southern Ontario take on the Toronto Varsity Blues on Saturday and the Brock Badgers on Sunday.
