KPDSB holding fireside chat on Wednesday
The Keewatin-Patricia District School Board is holding one in a series of fireside chats with its Director of Education this week.
Christy Radbourne says there are a couple of topics they want to focus on including math and attendance.
She says the provincial benchmark for attendance is less than 10 percent.
“When we look at our attendance records about 50 percent of our grade 3’s are making that benchmark and then it drops down to around 40 percent in grade 6 and all the way down only 9 percent of our grade 9’s,” explains Radbourne.
She adds that attendance is something parents can help with.
“We really want to talk with parents about how we can help…how we can collaborate to be sure kids can get to school and find out from parents what we can do to help with that.”
The fireside chat will take place on Wednesday evening from 6:30 to 7:30 at Beaver Brae and it will be streamed on Facebook live, for anyone who can’t attend in person.
