Community Foundation promoting donation challenge
A donation challenge has been issued by the Kenora and Lake of the Woods Regional Community Foundation.
Executive Director Lyn McAughey says they have until the end of the year to match an anonymous donation they have received.
“Our initial ask out to donors has been really productive,” says McAughey.
“In the last three days we come up with $15,000 dollars so we’re aiming for $60,000 by December 31st, due to the matching gift by a very generous donor.”
She believes the goal will be met, especially during the holiday period.
“I think it’s going to take every small gift and every large gift to make it happen. So, get together with your friends and bring together $20 dollars, and that $20 dollars will get matched and we’ll bring it slowly up to $60,000 by December 31st.”
McAughey adds that on top of the donation challenge, the Community Foundation is getting ready for its annual Festival of Trees.
She says they have sold out the gala dinner for the Festival of Trees this weekend but there are still tickets available for the twilight tickets, which takes place starting at 8:00 after the gala dinner.
