Three arrested in child pornography investigation
Three individuals, a 46-year-old, a 28-year-old, and a 19-year-old, were arrested on Tuesday under charges of accessing child pornography.
The two older accused are also charged with possessing child pornography.
The Cyber Crime Unit of the Thunder Bay Police Service (TBPS) began an investigation in March and procured a search warrant on the city’s north side in June.
Police officers asked the accused to turn themselves in, and all three adhered, surrendering themselves into police custody.
The accused have all been released from custody and given court dates.
The TBPS encourages parents and caregivers to be vigilant in monitoring the internet use of children, and suggests consulting Canada’s National Tipline for Reporting the Online Sexual Exploitation of Children.
TBPS also reminds those with a sexual interest in children that resources exist at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH).
