Sprague RCMP arrest suspect in stabbing
The Sprage RCMP is investigating a stabbing incident in the Rural Municipality of Piney.
The assault took place around 12:45 pm this past Sunday in the tiny community of Carrick.
A 52-year-old man had been stabbed in the neck and mouth by an acquaintance.
The victim was met by EMS and then was flown by medivac to hospital.
Later that afternoon, CN staff informed police that could see a man damaging rail cross arms in Carrick.
Officers were then flagged down by a truck travelling on Provincial Road 203.
The truck had picked up a male on the side of the road who was acting strange.
The man inside the truck matched the description of the suspect from the stabbing as well as the CN Rail report and was immediately arrested by Police.
The 38-year-old suspect from Steinbach has been charged with aggravated assault, assault with a weapon and two counts of mischief over $5,000.
The victim remains in hospital in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries.
