Work wraps up on new Sandy Point Road roundabout
Construction is now finished on the new roundabout at Sandy Point Road and Foster Thurston Drive.
The City of Saint John says the project is meant to improve safety and make the intersection easier for drivers and pedestrians to navigate.
The redesigned layout uses lower speeds to help reduce collisions and create a more predictable flow of traffic, according to the city’s release.
Drivers approaching the roundabout are required to yield to vehicles already inside.
The City also reminded motorists to signal when they exit and to watch for pedestrians at the marked crosswalks on both Sandy Point Road approaches.
The upgrade is part of its broader work to improve road safety and support more connected neighbourhoods.
Residents are being encouraged to take time to learn the new traffic pattern and follow posted signs and signals as they adjust to the change.
Additional light poles will be installed in the spring of 2026 to improve visibility in the area.
