More snow to hit Northwest Ontario
Environment Canada has issued a winter storm warning for northwestern Ontario, with significant impacts expected across the region through Thursday night.
Forecasts show 15 to 25 cm of snow, combined with northerly winds reaching 70 km/h, leading to blowing snow and near-zero visibility.
Communities closer to Lake Superior, especially Thunder Bay, may experience periods of rain or freezing rain Thursday, which could lower snow totals but increase the risk of icy road conditions.
For areas to the immediate west—such as Sioux Lookout, Armstrong, and Greenstone—an orange-level storm warning is also in effect, with 20 to 35 cm of heavy snow and equally strong winds expected.
Residents across the region should prepare for treacherous travel, reduced visibility, and possible disruptions to transportation, services, and utilities.
Roads may rapidly snow over, and road closures are possible.
