Good turnout for Hometown Takeover Canada video shoot
Despite the cold and snowy conditions, dozens of Kenora residents turned out to show Kenora’s Hometown pride.
They took part in a video shoot for Kenora’s application to be part of HGTV’s Hometown Takeover Canada
Mya Horley is Kenora’s Senior Communications Advisor and says they’ve been asked to submit a second video, which is promising.
“They (HGTV) have reached out to a number of communities as part of the casting process overall,” states Horley.
“So, we submitted the first one along with a lengthy application and they re-reached out to a number of different communities and said ‘Hey, we need a second video to show your community pride’.”
Horley adds they are glad local residents came out, despite the conditions.
“When we call for the community in Kenora to come together, regardless of if it’s summer or winter, we pull out all the stops. And there was a lot of people today with a lot of community pride. I think that will definitely wow HGTV. So, thank you to everyone that came out and bared the cold with us.”
Horley says they haven’t been told which community will be announced for the Hometown Takeover, but they expect something in the new year.
