UPDATE: Highway 17 reopened between Ignace and Upsala
Highway 17 has been reopened as of 10:30 pm Saturday night.
Earlier this evening travelers were notified to avoid Highway 17 as all lanes are closed in both directions between Ignace and Upsala. The closure, which began at approximately 6:44 p.m., is due to poor weather conditions.
Officials report that the stretch from Secondary Highway 599 (North) to the Upsala South Limits sign is completely shut down. Drivers are urged to delay travel plans and monitor updates from Ontario’s Ministry of Transportation for reopening information.
