RRDSB approves new reinvestments
The Rainy River District School Board has approved a series of reinvestments for the 2026–27 school year, aimed at strengthening learning environments and improving access to innovative programs for students across the district.
Trustees endorsed several priority projects, including new tools, upgraded learning spaces, and supports for multilingual learners.
One of the key initiatives is the launch of “Insights at a Glance” data dashboards. The system will give school and district leaders timely access to information to help guide planning and improvement efforts.
The Board is also moving ahead with “Learning Without Walls,” a project that will see the creation of an outdoor classroom on existing RRDSB property in Fort Frances. The space is designed to support land‑based and inquiry‑driven learning opportunities for students.
As the district welcomes more multilingual families, trustees also approved “Voices Connected,” an exploration of enhanced real‑time translation supports. The technology would integrate with existing classroom audio systems to strengthen access and belonging for English Language Learners.
The Board noted that several other proposals—ranging from facility upgrades to expanded student pathway opportunities—are still being reviewed. Further analysis and planning will determine long‑term feasibility and alignment with future capital priorities.
Board Chair Kathryn Pierroz said the reinvestments reflect the RRDSB’s continued commitment to students.
“These reinvestments reflect our commitment to strengthening learning environments across our schools and ensuring students have the tools, spaces, and supports they need to succeed,” Pierroz said.
