Hold onto your hat and umbrella! Rain and wind warnings in effect in N.B.

High winds and lots of rain are in the forecast today.

Yellow alert rainfall warnings issued by Environment Canada remain in place for regions including Saint John and County, St. Stephen and Northern Charlotte County, Sussex – Kennebecasis Valley and Kings County and Grand Manan and Coastal Charlotte County.

An additional 25 millimetres of rain will fall by this afternoon, which could result in localized flooding.

Environment Canada says thundershowers are even a possibility.

In addition, yellow alert wind warnings are also in effect for those regions, as well as Moncton and Southeast New Brunswick.

Hold on to your hat, gusts could be between 70 km/h and 90 km/h.

This could result in power outages or property damage.

As of 7 am on Tuesday, NB Power was already reporting over 3000 without electricity in the areas around Quispamsis, Rothesay and Sussex.

Crews will continue working throughout the day to restore outages and monitor incoming issues.

Any new outages should be reported to Saint John Energy or NB Power.

Several schools in the Anglophone South School District are also closed today due to power outages.
