Three dead after Lower Sackville house fire
Three people are dead after a devastating house fire in Lower Sackville.
RCMP say it was just before 4 a.m., Saturday, when emergency crews responded to the blaze on Manor Drive.
When crews arrived, they were unable to enter the home because of conditions that were “too intense” due to smoke.
Once firefighters were able to enter the home, three adults were taken out.
Emergency crews tried to save their life but all of them succumbed to their injuries.
They include one man, 43, and two women who were 38 and 73.
Condolences are staring to pour in.
In statement Mayor Andy Fillmore says he is heartbroken by the tragedy.
“My thoughts are with the families, loved ones, and neighbours who are grieving this devastating loss,” says Fillmore.
Councillor for Lower Sackville/Beaver Bank, Billy Gillis echoes Fillmore’s statement.
“My heart goes out to the residents of Sackville Manor and to the first responders who attended the scene,” says Gillis.
The Halifax Professional Fire Fighters they are saddened by the lives lost.
“Our members face extremely difficult conditions on arrival,” says the union.
“We understand the impact such incidents can have on the public, the community and our members. The effects of such events are deeply felt by everyone connected to them.”
Nova Scotia RCMP says their thoughts are with the victims’ loved ones at this difficult time.
No word on what caused the fire. The investigation is ongoing.
