Heavy rain, strong winds expected across parts of N.S.
A special weather statement is in effect for parts of the Eastern Shore and Cape Breton.
Starting Thursday, rainfall totals of 40 to 60 millimetres are expected, with showers possibly continuing into the night. Environment Canada says some areas could see rainfall rates of 5 to 10 millimetres per hour.
In Cape Breton, strong winds are also expected and could cause damage. Gusts may reach up to 90 km/h along the coast from Margaree Harbour to the Bay of St. Lawrence, easing in the early afternoon.
