Barrington fire departments get new ‘Structural Protection Unit’
An upgrade for fire services in the Municipality of Barrington.
Three fire departments will share a structural protection unit.
The municipality says it includes enough equipment to provide sprinkler protection for up to 50 structures during wildland-urban interface fire situations.
It’s part of a joint funding application by the Island and Barrington Passage department through the Regional Emergency Services Provider Fund.
The three departments will train on the new equipment this spring, the unit is available locally and throughout the province.
The project also involved support from the Shelburne County Firefighters Association, REMO, DNR and Barrington Ground Search and Rescue.
