Kenora enters 2026 Communities in Bloom
The City of Kenora will once again be taking part in Communities in Bloom.
The last time the city entered was 20 years again.
Andrew Smith is the general manager of Recreation and Culture and says they expect to be judged in July.
“We will be receiving three judges from southern Ontario,” Smith told Kenora city council recently.
“They’ll be here for a day-and-a-half. We’re going to show them around the community. We’re going to show them everything we have. They are going to review by-laws and sustainability.”
Smith says it’s been a long time since the city last took part in the national competition.
“We had the committee (Communities in Bloom) reach out to us in early December asking if the city was interested in starting to go down this venture again. My understanding is that the City of Kenora was very successful the last time we went through it.”
The city says homeowners can take part by making sure their property, neighborhood and street are tidy and is encouraging them to join the city’s adopt a block program.
