Maine man found guilty of murder on Esgenoopetitj First Nation
A man from Maine. U.S.A. will be sentenced on September 15 for second-degree murder and attempted murder.
RCMP say after a 23-day trial in Miramichi Court, 49-year-old Keith Martin was found guilty on June 11 for the death of Mark Dwayne Mitchell and for the attempted murder of Sylvio Savoie.
On September 5, 2024, residents of Esgenoopetitj First Nation were asked to stay in their homes with their doors locked.
An Alert Ready alarm was also issued after a 48-year-old man was found dead and another was injured, following an incident involving firearms.
Martin was arrested by the police the following day.
