No changes recommended for South Van Horne Master Plan
The City of Dryden’s Building and Planning department is not recommending any changes to the South Van Horne Master Plan.
That comes after a 30-day public comment period and a couple of open houses on the plan.
City planner Matthew Bagshaw says most of the comments they received are already dealt with in the master plan.
“The main issues raised through engagement are already addressed within its framework,” Bagshaw reported to city council at their open meeting this week.
“These include continued shoreline access, open space, trail connections, environmental protection, and requirements for servicing stormwater and transportation studies.”
Bagshaw adds that all the comments they have received have been taken into consideration in the final report.
“After reviewing the engagement results and the housing needs assessment, staff are not recommending revisions to the master plan.”
In all, the South Van Horne Master Plan deals with 30 acres of land, 20 of which are municipally owned and 10 with a private developer.
A petition going around against the South Van Horne development had over 500 names on it, and some councillors are wondering why they didn’t have more engagement in the public comment period and open house.
