Parlee Beach Provincial Park season extended to Oct. 12
Tourists will have access to Shediac’s Parlee Beach Provincial Park until Oct. 12 thanks to a season extension.
$100,000 was set aside for the park in this year’s provincial budget to allow for the longer season, which would have ended on Sept. 20 otherwise.
Fresh Perspective is a five-year tourism strategy introduced by Susan Holt’s government to increase annual tourism revenues by $1 billion, with a goal of $3.7 billion by 2031.
Tourism, Heritage and Culture Minister Isabelle Thériault said beaches are a key attraction for visitors coming to New Brunswick.
“[Beaches] are also extremely popular amongst the locals. This is why we are extending our parks’ seasons to best meet visitors’ expectations. Promoting tourism icons like Parlee Beach Provincial Park and growing our regions are at the heart of our tourism strategy,” said Thériault.
Tourism Industry Association of New Brunswick CEO Ginette Doiron said extending Parlee Beach’s season is outstanding news for locals, visitors, and those who work in tourism.
“As home to the warmest salt water in Canada, Parlee Beach is one of New Brunswick’s signature destinations and an important draw for visitors from across the country and beyond,” said Doiron. “Extending the season allows more people to experience everything that makes this area unique, from its coastal beauty to its vibrant Acadian culture and local businesses.”
