16 new affordable homes coming to Yarmouth Co.

Sixteen new affordable homes are coming to Yarmouth County.

The province says they will house about 50 people in Tusket on J.E. Hatfield Court.

They each have a patio or balcony, private entrance, energy efficient appliances and heat pumps to keep tenants warm in winter and cool in summer.

At least two will be fully accessible with the option of making other units accessible, if needed.

Minister of Growth and Development, Colton LeBlanc says he’s pleased to see these homes coming to the community.

“These new units will give residents one less thing to worry about, so they can focus on their work, their families or enjoying their retirement.”

The site is close to Highway 103, schools, municipal offices, gas and convenience stores as well as other small businesses and a short drive to Yarmouth.

Preliminary designs are being worked on with construction expected to start next year, following a request for proposals.
