Police raise concerns over youth using imitation firearms in Halifax
Halifax Regional Police will be showcasing recently seized imitation firearms on Wednesday, as they work to raise awareness about the risks these items pose to the public and to officers.
The move follows posts circulating on Facebook showing several youths firing realistic-looking airsoft guns inside a McDonald’s restaurant on Larry Uteck Drive around May 27, 2026.
Police say the incident reflects a growing trend of young people using imitation firearms, including BB guns and airsoft guns, in public places.
Customers inside the restaurant reported feeling intimidated, adding what may have been intended as a joke came across as dangerous.
