Shelburne MLA to help look for answers in death of 13-year old boy
The family of 13-year old Drew Nickerson, the boy who died in a dog attack in Welshtown this January, continues to fight the decision to not lay charges in his death.
According to a post on Facebook from Drew’s grandmother, the family is asking for anyone with information or previous experience with the dogs or their owners, particularly those who have made complaints to the Municipality or RCMP to contact Wagner Law.
Many in the community have come out in support of the Nickerson family, and have made calls for a reinvestigation and examination of Nova Scotia’s dog laws.
In a Facebook post Shelburne MLA Nolan Young said the attack was “nothing short of horrific and heartbreaking”, and that his family has suffered “unimaginable loss”.
He went on to say that the questions being asked by the public are very reasonable and should be answered, and that he will work with his colleagues to ensure those questions are treated with the serious attention they deserve.
