Funding announced for trail upgrades in Guysborough–Tracadie area

The province is investing in trail upgrades in the Guysborough–Tracadie area through the Recreation Trail Expansion Program.

The announcement was made yesterday by MLA Greg Morrow, who says more than $40,000 is being provided to improve two local trails, with additional funding supporting projects across Nova Scotia.

The program is aimed at improving access to outdoor recreation, with the Houston government investing $590,000 in trail projects province-wide in this round of funding.

In the Guysborough–Tracadie area, the Ocean Lake Riders ATV Club is receiving $22,200 for surface upgrades and a bridge installation on the Bullhill Trail, while the St. Mary’s ATV Club is getting $18,000 for surfacing, vegetation and water management work on part of the Trout Lake Connector.

Beyond trail work, officials note the 2026–27 provincial budget includes $9.5 million for upgrades to amenities such as campsites, washrooms, access roads and parking areas.

The province says Nova Scotia’s trail network continues to grow in popularity, attracting thousands of residents and visitors each year.
