Boil water advisory impacting parts of St. Stephen

Residents in parts of St. Stephen must now boil their water.

The advisory was issued yesterday afternoon after a water main break and loss of pressure.

Under the advisory, residents should boil their water for at least one minute before consuming.

Municipal district officials have spoken to affected residents or left a door hanger at the residence.

Those affected homes include: Veazey 3-29, Rose 30,31, 69 Union, Victoria 23-33, Citizens Court 1 to 38.

Another update is expected within 3 days.

Boil water order in Dieppe after water main break

A boil water order is now in effect in parts of the City of Dieppe.

This is due to a water main break on Dover Road.

Crews are working to repair the break, but water has been shut off for the rest of Thursday.

The order is in effect for all residents located from 401 Dover Road to 818 and 851 Dover Road, as well as all residents of Bayview Street and of the Domaine Dover Estates.

While under a boil water order, Public Health asks that you follow these instructions:

  • All water destined for drinking, preparing infant formulas and juices, washing fruits and vegetables, cooking, brushing teeth and dental hygiene is held at a rolling boil for at least one minute, including water that is used for washing teeth, making ice, making coffee/tea or juice and washing fruits and vegetables. This is particularly important for those whose immune system is compromised (i.e. elderly, infants, people with transplanted organs, on dialysis, etc.). Please note that home water filtration devices (water softener, pitcher filters, etc.) cannot eliminate microorganisms that could make you sick.
  • Water can be boiled in a pot, in a kettle on a stove or in an electric kettle without an automatic shut-off.
  • It is not necessary to boil water used for other household purposes such as bathing, showering, laundry or washing hands and dishes. When bathing or showering, avoid swallowing the water.

Residents will be informed when the boil water order is lifted.
