Riverside Health Care’s 50/50 jackpots stay strong

Riverside Health Care’s 50/50 cash draws continue to attract interest.

August’s draw reached a jackpot of nearly $18,000.

Danielle Hammond of Devlin claimed $17,677.50.

“I just started buying the Riverside ones again last month,” notes Hammond in a release.

“This was not the call I was expecting today. That turned my day around 100%!”

Riverside continued the draw first started by Riverside Foundation for Health Care in 2020.

After sitting below the $10,000 mark for most months, the jackpots have since grown and have exceeded $10,000 for eleven straight months.

Riverside used the draws to raise money for the new MRI unit planned for La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances and new digital radiology equipment for La Verendrye and Rainy River Health Centre.

They are being continued to raise funding for future medical equipment needs.

“It’s especially exciting when those prizes are won right here in our district,” states Holly Kaemingh, Riverside’s Fundraising Director.

“It really is a win-win for our communities. Someone gets an incredible surprise, while every ticket purchased helps support local health care.”

Tickets for September’s draw are now on sale.

Fort Frances man wins latest Riverside Health Care 50/50 cash draw

Riverside Health Care is drawing closer to its fundraising goal for a new MRI unit.

It is now just $60-thousand shy of raising the $1.6 million needed for the unit at LaVerendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances and for new digital diagnostic equipment at LaVerendrye and Rainy River Health Centre.

The campaign started about a year ago.

Holly Kaemingh, Riverside’s Director of Fundraising, says the support from the community since then has been incredible.

“In less than a year, the level of support we’ve seen has been truly overwhelming,” states Kaemingh in a release.

“Our community continues to show up in meaningful ways, and it’s making a real difference as we work toward enhancing diagnostic imaging services and care opportunities locally.”

The goal inched about $10,000 closer in May with the monthly 50/50 cash draw.

A.J. Tucker of Fort Frances claimed $10,760, with an equal amount raised for the campaign.

Tucker was just getting off a night shift when he received the call, describing the win as “awesome” and that picking up the phone was “worth it.”

Riverside is hoping to continue the momentum, as tickets for June’s draw are now available.

A Fort Frances man is the winner of February’s Riverside Health Care 50-50 cash draw.

Neal Webb takes home $13,290.

He has been a long-time lottery supporter for what it has done to improve healthcare services in the region.

“It will make such a big difference for the community,” states Webb in referring to Riverside’s plans for a new MRI at LaVerendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances.

“Especially for those who have to travel now for tests. It’s a good cause!”

Webb actually purchased his tickets for the March draw before accepting his winnings.

Riverside is drawing closer to its fundraising goal.

Funds raised from its cash lottery go directly to supporting the purchase of the MRI and upgraded digital X-ray units for LaVerendrye and Rainy River Health Centre.

Holly Kaemingh, Director of Fundraising, says support for the campaign continues to grow.

“Every month, we celebrate a winner, but we also celebrate what this community is accomplishing together, states Kaemingh in a release.

“We are so thankful for everyone who buys tickets, especially supporters like Neal who stop in, say hello, and remind us that this is about people. It’s about neighbours helping neighbours. It’s about strengthening care right here at home, for families today and for generations to come.”

Tickets for March’s draw are now on sale.
