Little Shemogue woman charged with sexual assault against a youth
A woman from Little Shemogue has been charged with sexually assaulting a youth.
Sackville RCMP received a report on Aug. 24 of a sexual assault at a summer camp in Johnston Point, about 45 kilometres east of Shediac.
Police arrested the 46-year-old suspect on Sept. 8 at a school in Port Elgin.
She appeared in Moncton provincial court on Sept. 9 and was charged with sexual assault, sexual interference and indecent exposure to a person under the age of 16.
She was released on conditions and is scheduled to be back in court on Oct. 7.
Now, police are investigating if the same woman may have committed similar offences against other youths.
The New Brunswick RCMP’s Sexual Violence Investigative Unit has taken over the investigation.
Cpl. Hans Ouellette said the investigation is active and police are working to identify any other potential victims.
“We want to ensure that individuals are aware that a sexual assault complaint can be made at any time,” Ouellette said in a statement.
If you are a victim, attended the summer camp in 2026, attended the same school and have any information related to this incident or other similar ones, please contact your local police.
