Town of Yarmouth warns of odours in south end during wastewater cleaning
The Town of Yarmouth has begun cleaning at the wastewater treatment plant at 1 Water Street.
Cleaning begins on Oct. 27, and is expected to last two to four weeks, according to the town.
They’re also warning residents of the potential for sounds and odours during the process, as they clean out the anaerobic digester structure in the facility.
Cleaners will have to open the structure, and clean out any solids accumulated at the bottom.
The town says this process can cause an odour, that depending on conditions like wind speed and temperature could vary in intensity.
No trails are expected to be closed, and all water services in town will remain functional.
Work is expected to take place six days a week, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and the town says they will provide updates on the work via their social media pages, the town’s website and the Alertable community notification service.
