New record jackpot in Riverside Health Care’s 50/50 cash draw

The goal to raise $200,000 to help bring back echocardiography services to the Rainy River District is off to a good start.

Riverside Health Care’s 50/50 cash draw in October helped to collect almost a quarter of the funds needed.

The jackpot of over $43,000 was won by Fort Frances resident Kelly Plichta, with an equal amount being directed to the ECHO Initiative, which will help pay for the equipment required to perform ultrasounds of the heart.

The campaign was launched at the beginning of October.

“Wow!” was Plichta’s reaction to the news that she was the winner

“It’s just a great way to support the hospital,” stated Plichta.

“I’m glad so many people are realizing it’s a good thing.”

October’s jackpot prize is the largest offered since Riverside launched the cash draws in 2025.

It surpassed the previous record of $27,000 that was awarded in January of this year.

“It’s incredible to see the momentum continuing to grow with our 50/50 draws,” states Holly Kaemingh, Director of Fundraising.

“Every ticket purchased helps us invest in better health care for our communities.”

Tickets for the November draw are now on sale.
