Teen pleads guilty to sexual assault in hockey hazing case

A Nova Scotia teen has pleaded guilty to one count of sexual assault with a weapon in relation to a hockey hazing case in Truro last fall.

The province’s public prosecution service (PPS) says the 15-year-old, who was 14 at the time, made the plea in court on Tuesday.

“The facts were presented to support the guilty plea, and pre-sentence documentation was ordered,” says PPS in an email to Acadia News.

RCMP originally launched the investigation after receiving a report on Jan. 30 that a youth had been assaulted during a private team gathering in October 2025.

Earlier this year, four youths were arrested in connection with the investigation. However, prosecutors later confirmed charges would only proceed against two of them.

The two youths facing charges are each accused of sexual assault with a weapon and two counts of sexual assault. One of the accused also faces an additional charge of assault with a weapon.

Police previously described the allegations as assaults committed under the guise of team initiation or bonding activities.

The boy is due in court December 15 for a status update and to set a sentencing date.

Because the accused are youths, they cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
