Drug investigation leads to two arrests in Lower Sackville

Two people have been arrested after a drug trafficking investigation in Lower Sackville.

Halifax RCMP began an investigation in September after receiving information that a woman was selling cocaine believed to be laced with fentanyl.

During the investigation, police learned the woman appeared to be working with a man.

On Oct. 9, officers with the Halifax RCMP’s Street Crime Enforcement Unit arrested a 25-year-old man from Lower Sackville after observing what they believed was a drug transaction on Cobequid Road.

When they searched the man, they found cash. A search of the buyer led to the seizure of drugs.

Later that day, officers executed a search warrant at an apartment in the 0-100 block of Cobequid Road.

During the search, police seized cocaine, unknown pills, cellphones and a BMW believed to have been used in drug trafficking activities.

A 61-year-old Lower Sackville woman was arrested for possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking.

Both suspects were later released and are scheduled to appear in Dartmouth provincial court at a later date.
