Opportunities NB invests in Moncton manufacturing, engineering company
The provincial government is giving a Moncton-based company up to $2 million in performance-based support to expand its operations.
APEX Industries will receive the funds through Opportunities New Brunswick.
The project is expected to create up to 35 full-time jobs and increase production capacity.
APEX is a manufacturing, product development and engineering company that works with industries including aerospace, defence, naval, food and construction.
The announcement was made at DEFSEC Atlantic in Halifax, where New Brunswick companies are showcasing technology in defence, security, aerospace, cybersecurity, information and communications, as well as advanced manufacturing capabilities.
“DEFSEC Atlantic is an important opportunity to showcase New Brunswick’s talent, expertise and contributions to the defence and aerospace sectors,” Opportunities NB Minister Luke Randall said in a statement.
Randall added the investment will help APEX expand and modernize its operations, and create opportunities for workers, suppliers and other businesses in New Brunswick.
APEX Industries CEO Keith Parlee said the investment is an important step forward as the company expands its contract manufacturing business, which has largely moved to defence and naval sectors.
“The expansion will increase our production capacity and strengthen our capabilities, improving our global competitiveness in the rapidly expanding defence sector for years to come,” he said.
