Bay Street construction delays will hopefully reduce

Traffic delays will hopefully be minimized to 10 to 15 minutes on Bay Street in Antigonish.

That’s according to Mayor Sean Cameron who’s hoping the roadwork will be done by the end of next week after water and sewer infrastructure were updated last fall.

This follows major delays of up to an hour yesterday when a car stalled and during shift changes at the hospital, according to Cameron.

He tells our newsroom staff are notifying traffic control whenever there are holdups in either direction.

“The night work is now completed. The type of work they’re doing now involves asphalt and concrete, and unfortunately, those plants are only open during the day, so it’s necessary to do that work during the day,” he shares.

Cameron says he’s hoping all the roadwork can wrap up in the area by the end of next week.
