Province invests in Memramcook clinic
Access to primary care is expanding in Memramcook thanks to a government investment.
The province announced $1.1 million on Monday to expand the community’s collaborative care clinic.
The funds have allowed for an expanded space, as well as the hiring of a licensed practical nurse and a phlebotomist.
Health Minister John Dornan said the investment will help more people get care closer to home.
“Good health care starts in our communities,” Dornan said in a statement.
Dornan added it means the clinic can continue to grow and respond to the needs of the patients it serves.
The team in Memramcook already included three primary care providers, a registered nurse, a social worker and two administrative assistants.
According to the Department of Health, the clinic currently cares for about 3,700 patients.
There are plans to continue building the clinic team, with efforts to recruit another physician underway.
The head of the Vitalité Health Network said it’s good to see the Memramcook team continue to grow.
Dr. France Desrosiers said the renovated space will allow for more health-care professionals and additional services to better meet the needs of the community.
