Four Moncton Landmarks Light Up for Oak
A pink and blue glow will illuminate four Moncton locations on Thursday night, as part of an international campaign honouring babies and children lost too soon.
The initiative is attempting to set a Guinness World Record for the most landmarks illuminated within 24 hours to recognize Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day.
The campaign is part of the Pink & Blue Across Canada & Beyond campaign organized by Oak’s Tree of Love, a Sudbury non-profit founded by Kristin Pichoskie in memory of her son, Oak Beaudyn Noel, who died at four days old.
It has grown into an international effort that includes 77 approved illumination sites across Canada and beyond, as well as flag raisings, municipal proclamations and community remembrance events.
Organizers are looking for local volunteers to help document the illumination as part of the world record attempt.
Moncton City Hall and Downing Street will be lit up in pink, and the Avenir Centre and downtown place in blue.
The group is seeking photographers, videographers and independent witnesses to capture the display. Documentation required for the record attempt includes original photographs, at least 10 minutes of uninterrupted video footage and witness statements confirming the illumination.
Interested volunteers are asked to connect with Oak’s Tree of Love via their Facebook page.
